The party seeks to end oppression and discrimination against women, sexual and social minorities. It is also an advocate of indexing minimum wage to cost of living, a universal basic income system, free education, stronger union rights, and converting the national economy from a military to a peace-oriented one.
Party History:
The Peace and Freedom Party was founded in 1967 by a group of civil rights and anti-war activists. Foremost on their agenda at the time was an end to the Vietnam War and enhanced rights for African Americans and minorities, achieved through a peaceful nationwide social revolution.

• Roseanna Barr: The actor, comedian, writer and producer became the party’s 2012 nominee for president.

• Larry Hagman (1931-2012): The legendary actor, best remembered for his role as J.R. Ewing in the 80s hit Dallas, became a member of the party since the late 1960s.

• Murray Rothbard (1926-1995): The libertarian icon was a meeting-going member of the party in 1968.
